Teaching Session #52 - Sunday 13th November 2022 6.30pm
The Books of 1 and 2 Chronicles and Ezra
Main speaker - Graham Wilkins
Host for the evening - Bernie Pinner
Graham writes:
"We may wonder why Chronicles is in the Bible, or at least, why we should bother reading it, because if you've read Samuel and Kings, you'll think you've read it all before, because Chronicles 1 and 2 basically cover the same ground, and quote an awful lot of those other books. However, when you understand when it was written and why it is different, we get a much greater understanding of the people of Israel, and God's purposes through that people group. Ezra used to be part of the same document, and is part of the same story, together with Nehemiah (but which has already been covered in a previous evening). These books appear to be mostly historical, but that isn't really true as they have much more of a spiritual purpose.
I hope that by the end of the evening, we will all have a much greater appreciation of these books and their relevance to God's great story where Jesus is the climax."
